Carl Probyn Updates, A woman abducted in California nearly two decades ago when she was 11 has been reunited with her mother. Jaycee Lee was snatched from outside her home in South Lake Tahoe in California

Jaycee Lee Dugard has reportedly had two children by her alleged abductor, a known paedophile named Phillip Garrido.

Police told a press conference the three were kept in "a series of sheds" and two tents in the backyard of Garrido's house.

Garrido has given a bizarre interview, speaking to KCRA-TV on the phone from the El Dorado county jail where he is being held.

"I've completely turned my life around," he insisted.

"You'll find a most powerful story coming from the witness - the victim - if you just take this a step at a time, you'll fall over backwards."

He went on: "And in the end you'll find the most powerful heart-warming story, revealing of something that needs to be understood. That's as far as I can go."

Like Austrian Josef Fritzl's victims, Jaycee Lee and her daughters lived in complete isolation with their "compound" not visible from the outside.

The girls, aged 11 and 15, had never been to school or seen a doctor but were all said to be in good health.

Now 29, Jaycee Lee was snatched from outside her family's home in South Lake Tahoe in 1991 as she was walking to a school bus stop.

What Police Found At Suspect's Property

Her family have spoken to her and are travelling to San Francisco to be reunited.

Jaycee Lee's stepfather Carl Probyn, who is now separated from her mother, described it as "like winning the lottery".

"To have this happen where we get her back alive, and where she remembers things from the past, and to have people in custody is a triple win," he said.

Mr Probyn, 60, witnessed his stepdaughter's kidnapping 18 years ago from the drive of their home.

The young girl was bundled screaming into a car and driven away.

How Stepfather Carl Probyn Found Out

The case attracted national coverage and was featured on the TV show America's Most Wanted.

Mr Garrido, 58, is being held on suspicion of kidnapping, rape, lewd and lascivious acts with a minor and conspiracy.

His 55-year-old wife Nancy has been detained on suspicion of conspiracy and kidnapping.

The couple, who live near the town of Antioch, were arrested after they walked into a police station with Jaycee Lee - whom they called "Allissa" - and her daughters.

Mr Garrido had been called in for questioning following a report that he had been seen with two small children.

He raised suspicions because as a registered sex offender he was not allowed to be with young children.

Questioning and further investigation eventually led Mr Garrido to reveal his part in Jaycee's kidnapping, authorities said.

Neighbours described the suspect as "weird".

One told the San Francisco Chronicle there were bars on the windows and doors of his house and he believed he could talk to God.

His next-door neighbour Haydee Perry said that when Mr Garrido helped her jump-start her car recently, he had a pre-adolescent girl clinging to him in a manner that struck her as odd.

The girl told Mrs Perry that Mr Garrido was her father and that she had older sisters, including one who was 28 - a year younger than Jaycee is believed to be now.

"She stayed close to him at all times," Mrs Perry said of the girl. "It wasn't normal behaviour. She had a blank stare on her face."

It has emerged that Mr Garrido, who owns a printing business, has a blog entitled 'Voices Revealed' and has been running a church from his home.

His last blog was posted on Friday August 14.

In it he writes: "... the Creator has given me the ability to speak in the tongue of angels in order to provide a wake-up call that will in time include the salvation of the entire world."

Gerry and Kate McCann, whose daughter Madeleine vanished from the family's holiday apartment in Portugal in 2007, have passed on their best wishes to Jaycee Lee's family.

In a statement issued via their spokesman, Clarence Mitchell, the McCanns said: "Once again this shows that children can seem to disappear off the radar only to be found years later alive.

"It emphasises we should never assume that someone is not alive without any evidence to support this. We should never give up.

"This case only makes us more determined to find Madeleine. She is out there somewhere and somebody knows where.

"Our thoughts and best wishes are with Jaycee and all her family for a happier and peaceful future."
