Eighteen/18 years ago 11-year-old Jaycee Lee Dugard was abducted near Lake Tahoe, California. A 29-year-old woman has just come forward claiming to be the missing child.
If Jaycee Lee Dugard is alive, she would be 29 years old. The FBI is not saying if she’s been found, but a Concord police officer told an ABC7 sister station that a woman walked into a county facility on Wednesday claiming to be Dugard.
Investigators left the Concord Police Department saying very little about the Jaycee Dugard case, only that there will be more information Wednesday.
Jaycee Dugard was 11 years old when she was reportedly kidnapped in South Lake Tahoe 18 years ago. The FBI distributed lots of flyers with her picture on it in 1991. Investigators wouldn’t say why they were in Concord following this case, so many years later.
When asked “Is Jaycee Dugard in there?” by ABC7’s Lilian Kim, an investigator simply replied, “I cannot talk about it, I’m sorry.”
Jaycee’s disappearance prompted a massive, widespread search. The nationally televised show, “America’s Most Wanted,” publicized her abduction. Authorities say Jaycee was walking to her bus stop, less than 200 yards from her home, when her stepfather saw a couple drag her into their gray car.
A woman who has been missing from her South Lake Tahoe home has reportedly surfaced in Concord, 18 years after she was kidnapped.
Jaycee Dugard, who would be 29 today, apparently walked into the Concord Police Department on Wednesday. Concord police have declined comment, referring inquiries to the El Dorado County sheriff’s office. A news conference is scheduled for today.

Dugard was last seen on June 10, 1991 as she was walking to a bus stop in South Lake Tahoe. Dugard, a blue-eyed, blond 11-year-old dressed in a pink top and pink pants, set out to catch the bus to her school near South Lake Tahoe. She never made it.
As her stepfather watched helplessly from the family’s driveway on a hill about two blocks away, a two- tone gray sedan pulled up and someone yanked the girl into the car and sped off. Even though officers responded within minutes, no trace of the car or girl was ever found.
Dugard’s mother was reportedly on her way from her southern California home to reunite with her daughter.
